Concrete Equipment Industry Welcomes High-Tech Newcomer
In July of 2002, Wade Industries, Inc. of Fort Worth Texas, launched the highly touted website ConcreteIron.com. Unlike most other concrete industry specific websites, ConcreteIron.com provides the most unique selling concept. Although online auctions are nothing new to the internet culture, ConcreteIron.com only provides an online auction once per month.
Owner Tim Wade states "The Concrete Industry suffered due to the tragedy of 9-11. We didn't want to just be another Me-Too Classified website. Many sellers are looking for a reliable and honest method to liquidate their heavy equipment quickly and ConcreteIron.com does just that".
The new site offers a very simple yet powerful online auction system for users. ConcreteIron.com prides itself on the fact that all of their consignors must provide a complete detailed condition report of all equipment they list. The condition report must also be signed by the seller declaring the validity of his report.
Unlike other equipment auctions, ConcreteIron.com eliminates a lot of the typical questions and time consuming followups usually required when selling online. "The condition report", says Wade, "provides buyers more confidence when bidding and also helps bring higher dollars for our consignors. We struggle with some of our consignors to get the reports filled out, but we explain to them the value and importance. Our goal is to provide a top notch service for both the buyer and the seller."
Once an item is listed with ConcreteIron.com, the consignor can elect to have it sold at auction or via classified listings. ConcreteIron.com automatically transfers all unsold auction listings to their classified listing section until the next scheduled auction.
ConcreteIron.com also handles all questions from bidders, posts the items to the auction site, and also negotiates with potential customers to help complete transactions. According to Wade, no other site on the web offers so much to the concrete industry.
Bidders interested in purchasing equipment through the online auction can also elect to end an auction immediately by selecting ConcreteIron.com's "Buy-It-Now" feature. The "Buy-It-Now" feature allows bidders to go forward with a purchase rather than hope and wait to see if they win the auction.
The site had over 89,600 hits the first month with over 9,000 pageviews, claims Wade. He also states that for such an industry specific website, this kind of traffic is uncommon and far exceeded their expectations. In only their second month online, ConcreteIron.com has already surpassed their first month's stats and appear to have gained a strong foothold in the concrete equipment sales marketplace.
